As the wife of one of these veterans, the ones who want our VA hospital returned to be a full-service hospital, I’d like to thank the Oct. 5 letter writer of “Why must vets fight for hospital?” for speaking up and voicing concern. I want to let him and other readers know that Rep. DeFazio and Sen. Wyden have been involved and helping the veterans from the start of this fight. Rep.DeFazio and his staff have always been there when a veteran has reached out to them for help. Sen. Merkley has also joined with his support, as well. When we were on Garden Valley Boulevard and at South Gate/Harvard Boulevard with our picketing, we also had State Rep. Tim Freeman and County Commissioner Joe Laurance out there with us, lending support. Rep. Peter DeFazio and Sen. Ron Wyden are very much there for the veterans!
